Benefits Manager

  • Location: Hybrid (if local to DFW) OR Remote
  • Reports to: SVP of HR


Eyemart Express has an opening for an experienced Benefits Manager who is looking to work within a growing company with a wonderful culture that has lots of opportunity for professional development. The Benefits Manager plays a key role in supporting the overall success of company-wide benefits programs, including medical, retirement, leave and other voluntary benefits programs. This role also assists in the evaluation, development, and implementation of new programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day administration of various health and welfare benefits programs, including but not limited to medical, Rx, dental, vision, life insurance, voluntary benefits, STD, and LTD.
  • In collaboration with internal and external partners, researches and resolves escalated benefit issues.
  • Manages relationships with vendors and carriers, including monitoring cost, service levels,processes and accuracy of data.
  • In partnership with the Total Rewards Director, support the annual benefits review process;ensure all milestones/goals are met; actively participate in the annual rate setting process.
  • Lead the annual benefits open enrollment process: audit enrollment data; verify HRIS upload files; review benefits communication materials; conduct associate training, as applicable.
  • Ensures compliance of benefit and retirement programs in accordance with regulatory and legislative requirements, including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA and other local regulatory and legislative requirements; coordinates preparation of filings with federal and state agencies, including IRS (e.g. 1095-C filing) and DOL (e.g. 5500 filing) and other regulatory agencies.
  • Develops reports and metrics that will help senior management monitor and manage benefits costs.
  • Support the 401k Committee activities; produce reports; coordinate agenda for quarterly meetings; and partner with external resources as necessary.
  • May support HR Generalists with claims, investigations or other functions.
  • Administers the companies leave policies and systems.
  • •Assists with other benefit projects/duties as assigned.

Experience & Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of dedicated benefits administration experience, required.
  • Solid knowledge of employee benefit programs, practices and procedures including HIPAA, ACA, and ERISA
  • Performs work independently and under minimal supervision.
  • Proven experience in handling multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Comfortable running reports and organizing data from various internal and external systems.
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple projects and priorities.

  • Self-starter with high level of initiative and a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
  • Flexibility to frequent changes and ability to react quickly.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
